Ash Wednesday

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. The word “Lent” comes from the Old English word “lencten,” which simply means “spring” It is a time in which we anticipate the victory of the light and life of Christ over the darkness of sin and death. C.S. Lewis said,“happiness and wonder that makes you serious.” We should have this sentiment as we enter this new season. As the days grow longer and brighter, our prayer at FBC Weslaco is that you would experience with greater abundance the reality of God’s redeeming grace. Lent is meant to be a time of repentance, a reminder that sin separates us from God and of what it cost Him to be reunited with us. Lent invites us to make our hearts ready for remembering Jesus’ death and resurrection.
As followers of Christ we have died to ourselves, we have “crucified” ourselves. We have been crucified with Christ and this means that it's no longer we who live but Christ who lives in us. This is known as the “great exchange,” my life has been exchanged for the life of Christ. Christ now lives in me. It's not me anymore, it's Christ who lives in me.

Each and everyday we should live our life trusting in Christ. And as we wake up everyday we need to realize that we cannot do this on our own, we are in need of a Savior. Whether we be living in a pandemic, or without electricity we will live our lives trusting Christ.

We live by faith in the One who loves us and God who loves us, so much so, He sent His son to give up His life for us. To give us something we don’t deserve. SALVATION.

God loves us so much. Christ in us loves us so much. So as we begin the Lenten Season today, let’s remind ourselves that we have a Savior who loves us and we will live for Him.

Prayer:

God loves me, Jesus lives in (your name), and I will live for Him. Holy Spirit as I live in the flesh help me live by faith in the Son of God.
